For Captain Matthew Morin, the ocean has never simply been part of the scenery—it’s been the foundation of his life.
Growing up along the New Jersey shore, Matt spent countless hours surfing, boating, and exploring the coastline. Those early experiences fostered a deep respect for the ocean and ultimately inspired a career dedicated to mastering it. At just 21 years old, he answered that calling by enlisting in the United States Coast Guard, beginning a journey that would span more than two decades and shape the way he serves clients today.
Now a licensed U.S.C.G. 100-Ton Master and Yacht Broker with Panacea Yacht Group, Matt combines decades of real-world maritime experience with a passion for helping others buy and sell boats with confidence.

A Career Forged in Some of the Toughest Conditions at Sea
After graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard’s A-School in Yorktown, Virginia as a Boatswain’s Mate—the service’s experts in seamanship—Matt quickly established himself as an exceptional mariner.
His commitment and skill earned him acceptance into the prestigious Motor Lifeboat School of Excellence in Ilwaco, Washington, where he became a certified Heavy Weather Coxswain. Over the next twenty-plus years, he logged thousands of hours operating Coast Guard vessels in some of the most challenging sea conditions imaginable, conducting search and rescue missions and responding whenever others needed help.
Those experiences demanded calm decision-making, meticulous preparation, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to safety—qualities that continue to define Matt’s approach to every client relationship.
To further expand his expertise, Matt also earned his U.S.C.G. 100-Ton Master’s License with towing endorsement through the Annapolis School of Seamanship, adding another layer of professional knowledge to an already distinguished maritime career.

A Different Kind of Yacht Broker
Many yacht brokers enter the industry through sales.
Matt entered after spending thousands of hours behind the helm.
His background gives him a unique perspective when evaluating boats. Beyond appearance or specifications, he understands how vessels perform in real-world conditions, what proper maintenance looks like, and what buyers should consider for long-term ownership and safety.
Whether a client is purchasing their first center console, moving into a larger yacht, or preparing to sell a vessel they’ve owned for years, Matt offers practical advice grounded in firsthand experience—not theory.
Bringing Coast Guard Values to Every Transaction
The principles that guided Matt throughout his Coast Guard career continue to shape his work as a yacht broker.
Preparation. Integrity. Clear communication. Accountability.
He believes buying or selling a boat should be an enjoyable and informed experience, not an overwhelming one. From the initial consultation through sea trials, negotiations, closing, and beyond, Matt is committed to making sure every client feels confident in their decisions.
His mission is simple: provide honest guidance and professional service that clients can trust from start to finish.

Helping Boaters Beyond the Sale
Retirement from the Coast Guard didn’t mean stepping away from the water—it meant finding a new way to serve those who enjoy it.
In addition to helping clients buy and sell boats through Panacea Yacht Group, Matt is passionate about educating recreational boaters and sharing practical knowledge that helps people become safer, more capable captains. Whether it’s offering docking tips, discussing vessel operation, or helping owners prepare for weekends with family and friends, he enjoys making boating more approachable and enjoyable for everyone.
His goal has always remained the same: helping people create safe, memorable experiences on the water.
Relationships That Continue Long After Closing Day
At Panacea Yacht Group, we believe the best brokers become trusted advisors—not just sales professionals.
Matt embodies that philosophy.
Many of his clients continue reaching out long after closing day because they know they have someone they can rely on for honest advice, boating guidance, and support whenever they need it. His combination of operational expertise, approachable personality, and genuine commitment to helping others has earned the trust of boaters throughout the region.
For Matt, success isn’t measured by transactions alone. It’s measured by the lasting relationships he builds and the confidence his clients have every time they leave the dock.
